Paqtnkek Snow Crab Fishery

Nov 21, 2017 | Land & Sea

Climb aboard as the crew of Mac Boys heads into the Gulf of St. Lawrence as the 2017 snow crab season winds down off the western coast of Cape Breton. Captain Fred Sylliboy, Billy Googoo and Jamie Ledrew are part of the Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation fishery that generates revenue for community programs and services. An increased snow crab quota this year and higher prices could see revenue top $1 million, which would be a record harvest.
