Times have changed. Small country stores like ours are not the backbone of the community like they once were.

Margaret (nee Benoit) was born in 1921, and grew up on the Daggers Wood Road in the Parish of Heatherton, Antigonish County. She married the late Joe DeYoung of Pomquet.

Mary (nee Dggan) was born in Springfield, Antigonish County, in 1910. In her younger years, she lived in the town of Antigonish and worked as a housekeeper and seamstress.

Colin and his sister, Girlie, were born and raised in Springfield, Antigonish County. Colin was born in 1919, and Girlie in 1927.

Mary Ellen was born in 1927, and was raised in Beauly, Antigonish County.  She and her husband settled on the farm in Springfield.

Mary MacGillvray was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, on January 2, 1920.

Mary was born in Tracadie in June of 1949. Mary enjoys life to the fullest. If you see a motorized chair going down Main Street with ‘Elvis’ on the back – that’s Mary!

Leafa was born in Powassan, Perry Sound District, in 1920. Her parents worked as cooks in the logging camps during the winter, and at the sawmills in the summers.

Marcella was born in May of 1910, at St. Martha’s Hospital and grew up in Bayfield.
